As long as Cursor is locked to frontier models behind a paywall……. tis a no go for me. I'd so much rather license the software and have the flexibility to switch between cloud and self-hosted models on my own dime.
Weird, I installed the newest version but don't see Composer in right sidebar yet. Does show its version 0.41.2 . Maybe its because I downloaded the newest build rather than used the update feature?

I'm really enjoying cursor. But I'm dancing between AI providers so I don't run out of credits before my first project is complete. I've been doing the high level planning in o1, building a highly detailed project spec, then using composer to build it out and get the basic app working, then I switch to Mistral/4o/sonnet for debugging/finishing code. Checkpoints sounds good. What is the use case for notepads? Is it just a cleaner way of bringing documents into the composer chat? We we already able to do that…
