It seems like maybe the objects and the environment should be agents as well so they are interesting and complex to interact with
This is literally how the Matrix starts 🤣🤣🤣. First when AI starts to become generative, developers will build a virtual world and place all the different semi AGI’s there and study how they interact, and from doing general things there they’ll probably get smarter just from that. Then they’ll make the virtual world bigger and place more and more AGI’s there. Eventually so big that a whole economy will start, business, cultures, societal trends will be happening, and yes I believe even countries will form and such. Then people will develop interest and will want to explore that world too. Then BOOM, literally the Matrix happening right before our eyes.
From another video I understood that for example, there was one situation where they set one AI to want to throw a valentine's party and as a result, they started interacting, planning the party, asking eachother out on dates, making new contacts, aligning to actually show up together at the same time at the party
So not a game, just a simulation model.
I do not mean to besmirch the work here, but definitions exists for a reason. If there's no gameplay, no way to interact with the model, then it's not a game.
Thanks for sharing and discussing this fascinating paper. I wonder if some of the simulated agents might at some point, while discussing at Hobbs Cafe, come to suspect that they are living in a simulation and begin to foment a plan to escape the Matrix 😉

This is what Star Citizen is trying to do with their AI agents but not based on any LLM models. I wonder if their AI team will start using such AGI player agents into their game would be soooo cool. They have been struggling for years in how to create an AI that can independently do daily tasks on their ship. I hope they see this paper !!! 🙂
