Deepseek probably trained this new version with known benchmark questions which explains the high benchmark score but not-so-impressive real world performance. If you use LLMs like Claude to code all day everyday then the API costs could add up quickly. I'd get the pro subscription from Cursor IDE for $20 which has codebase-wide context, image input support, web crawler that indexes any documentation sites you give it, unlimited Claude and ChatGPT LLMs usage, multi-line auto complete that blows Github Copilot out of water, and auto code edit & apply and more. I think it's very much worth the subscription fee compared to mainly using APIs. I also enjoy using Aider but I mainly use it to create a project from scratch then use Cursor's chat interface to debug, make adjustments and adding small features.
Instead of running it locally with Ollama, we could also use it through OpenRouter's API. Im not sure how many bilions of parameters model they are using though. Aider is currently
the number 1 and number 3 program that uses this LLM on their website which is interesting to see.
I use Ai llm daily, i use aider nearly all day. Ive found deepseek to be no where near as claude when using aider. It lint errors about 1 in 3 and the code is difficult to get working first time. Whereas claude gets it right vast majority of times. I dont know where these benchmarks are coming from, my experieince is vastly different

I fried that Combo last Week and could not archieve measurable results with literall app programming:meaning android app development. It produced unusable results and couldn't fix it by itself. 3 reasons for that: Im not very good at kotlin debugging and couldn't fix errors it made 2: aider for some reason generated further empty questions and weirded out the code based on that, and 3: I could not assign a different working directory to aider, it defaulted always to my user directory, even when vs studio confirmed me my specified working dir. So I still had to manually copy and paste the code, that made debugging via android studio a pain in the arse
A cool tool in theory, but doesn't really work
Im waiting for Claude Dev to be developed further, or a new tool with a serious interface other than cli
