I think google might be pulling a china : make their stuff significantly cheaper than everything else on the market, loose money in the process, but gain complete market dominance, google has come very far with AI in the last 2 years, not so long ago people we're sh*ting on Gemini and how it was the worst LLM and google was loosing the "AI race" now look at Gemini 2.5 pro outperforms every other model on every benchmark and is 15x cheaper than Claude, 10x cheaper than chatgpt 5x cheaper than grok, it's crazy..
Unfortunately it barely works. There is a long chain of complaints to google that the cli gives 429 (no credits left) errors when the users do everything right.
Would it be better to use this in VS Code, or Kilo Code in VS Code with Gemini 2.5 pro?
I think it downgrades to a lower model. It is still impressive. Will be interesting to see what the pay per use billing comes to.
what is the reason to use thius instead of claude code cli? even if it is free, if the shit dont work and you spend days debugging easy stuff, that woul dbe a nightmare. im just tryting to see the logic behind using this. be honest gemini models are shit for coding. for anything to be honest except multi modal stufff
This hasn't been working very well for me on my testing. At least compared to Claude code which I usually use and is significantly better. In fact Gemini 2.5 Pro has been seriously lacking lately, especially in agentic tasks. I am waiting for Googles next model, hopefully they can create something that is better optimized for agentic workflows.

Rate limit make it impossible to work on a full project
I just tested this, after one minute it automatically switched to a weaker Flash model, then went into an infinite loop trying to make changes to the code.
In general, I have noticed that all Gemini models have a problem with falling into an infinite loop when applying changes to the code.
It's a pity, because the whole product has great potential, but at this stage it is unusable
