Some final thoughts on the o1 model;
– For code gen it’s nice but for code completion, it needs some work.
– Apparently, instead of making the o1 model’s architecture built on chain of thought, it was fine-tuned samples of it instead :/ kinda was expecting some sort of algorithmic enhancement added to the model to elevate the capability of it.
– no tool calling available yet for both o1-preview and o1-mini
– output wise, slightly better than sonnet 3.5.
– price wise, WAYYY too expensive :/
– self evolving stuff is cool.
7.5/10 – didn’t meet expectations but then again. It’s a preview 👀 GPT-5 has yet to come!
Any thoughts on the system flagging users who ask questions about how it reasons? Users who have done this have received emails threatening to ban them from the platform. I wonder if there are any content creators who have the sack to ask the tough questions as opposed to just talking about features like a sponsored advertorial.

o1-mini is really incredible, it's available to use without an OpenAI account on Openrouter and Hoody, fyi.
Who the hell needs this slow almost useless model? University professors maybe but 99% of the public has no use of it whatsoever. I am good using 4o model. What people need is all the job done by itself and get paid while enjoying a luxury vacation, not another nonsense chat bot.

To some extent, you can simulate reasoning in a smaller LLM by asking the model to write a code that will solve the problem
I used llama3.1:8b it did write a code in Python that calculates the amount of "r" in a given text {yes the final answer was correct }
for the moment the code needs to be executed manually but in the future, I hope to automate that
at the same time, I did test it on questions like:
1) which number is bigger, 9.11 or 9.9?
2) Give me 10 sentences that end with the word "apple”
3) so how many times is the letter "r" present in this sentence?
The sentence: “The strawberry grows underneath the nettle And wholesome berries thrive and ripen best Neighbours by the fruit of baser quality"
it did answer to all of them correctly
Its just interesting how they release this only now when, (fraud or not) reflection and deepseek 2.5, are released, the models with results that clearl beat GPT, the mind boggles, but one would imagine its to stay on top of the competition, or are they holding back as a more effective marketing technique, or needed more time to develop but were prompted to relase now; at least its a coincidence.

o1 is so interesting in that it’s simulating human thinking and reasoning. As Chat GPT evolves it will become more and more impressive once powered by nVidia’s Blackwell Platform then Rubin. It’s very probable this is about to get super exciting.
Tested and it is great for reasoning, but unfortunately heavily censored.
People don't understand Sam Altman is the real genius here. As long as he's at the helm he will gather the necessary talent and put out a superior product.
