for people who code with AI using another model inside the codex app is not using codex it is using that model you do not gain the capabilities of codex by using another model inside the codex app it's like this if i run codex in my terminal i have the power of codex in my terminal if i run gemini in my terminal i have the power of gemini in my terminal the apps is just the terminal with a cute face on it think of like that not saying this is a waist if you like the codex UI but if not you can make better skills yourself and just get back in that terminal

I followed all the steps for llama3 model , everything worked fine but at the end, the place where the model name should show in the codex app, mine doesnt show llama , and hence when i try to run any command it says , couldn't find gpt model, and gives an error, does some one know how to resolve?
This doesn’t launch codex locally it launches codex normally and doesn’t show my models I have installed

If you got an error like that than delete the first row of the config.toml file (which starts with profile = …)
Error:

Note: If you are only testing, than use gemma (cloud)
I thought codex app have built-in browser, why do you still need a html viewer to see the HTML site? or is it because that model you're using can't work with codex's built-in browser to annotate and edit?

I have used codex, claude code & gemini cli for my coding projects, even though you could switch to any model, but I found it is better if you stick to the original intended model.

Can you test with a qwen model and give it some task to showcase agentic loop? I tried ollama with before this integration and it completely failed agentic loop all other feature doens't matter much if the core agentic loop isn't functioning…

nifty. codex is solid now im wondering if those models are worth it. i know what open ai plus and codex is capable of, its a high bar. could do this for most things and just occasionally pay openai for when you need quality and context.
