For a long time, I have been fascinated by a simple question:
Why has humanity, despite its tremendous scientific achievements, still not reached a true unified theory?
Of course, every scientific discipline has made extraordinary progress.
Physics studies particles and fields.
Chemistry studies atoms and molecules.
Biology studies life.
Information science studies information, computation, and learning.
All of these fields are valid.
All of them have produced remarkable discoveries.
Yet I always felt a certain discomfort.
It seemed to me that perhaps each discipline was observing reality from a different layer.
Consider a house.
A physicist may study the bricks.
A chemist may study the materials that compose the bricks.
A biologist may study the living organisms residing inside the house.
An information scientist may study the flow of information occurring within it.
All of these perspectives are correct.
However, very few ask a different question:
Why do bricks become a house in the first place?
I believe this may be one reason why a unified theory remains elusive.
Modern science has become highly specialized.
Physics divides into particle physics, quantum information, and quantum error correction.
Biology divides into molecular biology, genetics, and epigenetics.
As knowledge becomes deeper, the connections between fields often become harder to see.
It is as if humanity has built a vast city where everyone studies their own room while rarely examining the structure of the city itself.
This led me to formulate a different question.
Not:
“What is the universe made of?”
But rather:
“Why does structure emerge?”
The State Transition Interference Structure Theory (STIS) began from this question.

It adapts.
It evolves.
Life can therefore be understood as a structure that continuously updates itself.
The same applies to civilizations.
A civilization that becomes completely fixed eventually stagnates.
A civilization that continues to transform survives.
What matters is not the achievement of a final optimum state, but the capacity to continue transitioning between states.
Recently, I observed a similar pattern through benchmark research in optimization.
Traditional optimization seeks the optimal solution.
However, in highly dynamic environments, the critical question changes.
The issue is no longer whether an optimum can be found.
The issue becomes whether the system can survive.
A system that becomes excessively locked dies.
A system that remains completely unlocked also dies.
What is required is the ability to continue transitioning between states.
At this point, I began to suspect that physics, biology, information science, complexity science, and optimization theory may not be studying entirely different phenomena.
Perhaps they are simply observing the same underlying process from different layers.
Most current attempts at unification focus on the unification of components.
Researchers attempt to unify particles.
They attempt to unify forces.
They attempt to unify fields.
These are important and valuable pursuits.
However, I am interested in something deeper:
the unification of generative principles.
If a common language exists beneath all disciplines, it may not be particles, life, or information themselves.
It may instead be:
Difference,
Interference,
Stabilization,
and State Transition.
The State Transition Interference Structure Theory is not yet a completed theory.
Nor is it intended to replace existing disciplines.
Rather, it is an attempt to explore a deeper foundational layer capable of connecting them.
That is why I began thinking about this theory.
The same applies to AI.
Overfitting is optimization for the present.
Adaptation is survival in the future
