When I saw the thumbnail I was like "Ohh, didn't know Louis C K was getting into AI nowadays!" lol
I see major security risks with AI agents having access to everything on your computer. I hope that someday in the future, you’ll be able to download one directly to your computer so everything stays local. The old-fashioned way would be that if you want to update its capabilities, you’d download updates like you do for Windows. Once updated, it stays on your machine. I’m not a techie, but I hope this makes sense. They should be designed so that if you’re satisfied with your AI agent, you don’t need to update it, and it will keep working for you as long as you want. Unlike older versions of Windows that stop working after a certain number of years.

I believe your presentation of OpenClaw renders it an extremely appealing tool, though you go on to saying it isn't and branding it with such a title too.
I think, after using it, it represents a major leap forward from LLM focused applications such as chatbots, document summary, text generation, etc. to an agent fully capable of executing meaningful tasks. I do agree with you on the following:
1- That, in itself, Openclaw is not a major advancement to agentic intelligence, but it's a significant leap in agentic utility by constructing a meaningful "framework" for leveraging the AI smarts.
2- Leveraging this framework should be restricted to those with mid- to high-level security awareness.
3- Understanding agentic AI is a necessary skill and using Openclaw gives you this opportunity
I'm not a seasoned computer science professional, but am comfortable with simple coding tasks and READING API functions /risks (the latter an indespensible requirement to even considering using Openclaw).
Oh, and I don't believe in Clawhub and don't advise using it with access to LLMs and decent prompting.
The basic problem is people don’t start with “what is the problem I am trying to solve”. If you can read your chats, read your emails, what the heck to you need this AI tool for, laziness?
as long as any ai is goverment controlled , what it can say , what stance and where it gets there info from, it is totally useless
People use OpenClaw in a way that hurts the wallet in the long run, like… "write this task in my to-do list"!

Can somebody explain what the big issue with this whole install is and why people keep saying it's difficult. Open the terminal, copy and paste the info from openclaw, pick which brain you want, in the platform you want to communicate and give commands from. I did it 15 20 minutes not even. This is local not VPS. I guess maybe I'm missing something
The AI fanboys think it will increase productivity. Well guess what, very few companies in the USA have increased their profits using AI. Why aren't company stocks going higher ? AI is just a fun toy. No original hit songs, no original stories or movie scrips, no original paintings or videos, no original ideas have been "produced". AI just shuffles data around and rearranges it. But it won't change our lives significantly.
Has anybody thought of something useful of 'every day' work?
Been playing around with it last week or so. Installed ok had to use deepseek to fix many many issues. The latest version is not very useful to do anything with it at moment for me. Very frustrating. Not user friendly. in mean time i suspect the powers that be openAi has a version probably many times better than what they have tossed us to play with outside in the sandpit, a broken rudimentary version and we are led to believe we can do amazing things with it. The real amazing things i suspect will eventually come out commercialised to extract dollars from us. The sad thing is that weve been tossed a version that is hard to develop learning and skills, its leaving us further and further behind in this and no wiser until they release the "proper" version later.
Stop relying on proprietary 'shells.' If you want OpenClaw's power without the NVIDIA lock-in, DefenseClaw is the move. It’s open-source, 100% free, and puts security back in the hands of the community. Real independence starts with open-source guardrails.
It's cause China doesn't give out all the best stuff overseas, they keep the good stuff for themselves. Same with Seedance 2.0. They will(if they ever do), give the world a more dumb down version for it, and only let their country use it to the fullest. Right now, Seedance 2.0 is only available in China. They decided not to open it up globally.
So one of my questions with open claw, especially running it on like a mini Mac or something Mac mini could you still use the Mac mini as a regular computer and open clothes runs in the background or does it pretty much lock up the computer and just use all the resources for open claw
