Nice review! I used to use opencode and big pickle or random free one from openrouter. Then went to Qwen CLI but it closed free options. Then gemini CLI and also been using this! I'm impressed by its tools eg code review! And I still use free web chats to do initial planning and these for implementation.
I got 2 weeks left with Claude cuz I paid for it then I'm done using him. Figured out my own way to get agents to work for me. Autonomously

What would be good is if you could use all your lower-end subs from each of the big 3 (cGPT, Gemini, and Claude) [plus, pro, pro] on the same projects. So, when one reaches its limits, it can switch to a different brand sub. Or is that already possible? I've never tried. I can't afford any of the enterprise subs. I probably can't really afford the lower end subs of each either, but I was thinking maybe it's an alternative to getting an enterprise sub.

Als Kunde habe ich sogar meine Prozesse optimiert, damit die gesteigerte Menge an Tokens dem neuen Token-Pricing gerecht wird.
Beispiel: Was früher 10 einzelne Aufrufe gebraucht hat, wird jetzt in einem Rutsch geplant, committed und ausgeführt und zack, 30 neue oder geänderte Dateien sind fertig.
Die KI muss sich dabei nicht einmal Gedanken machen, ob etwas verschoben werden muss, weil ich das alles automatisiert habe und es von allein passiert.
Und obwohl Anthropic solche Probleme hatte, habe ich extra versucht, meinen Verbrauch zu reduzieren. Nicht weil ich es musste, sondern weil ich fair bleiben wollte.
Ich hoffe wirklich, dass der neue Deal dafür sorgt, dass der Service wieder ehrlicher und fairer wird, ohne ständig irgendetwas künstlich beschränken zu müssen.

After spending 2 years in AI coding I can tell you , all open source models are super bad for coding they get 1 right and 99 wrong. I gave up after trying almost all cheap models and open source models.
After I cancelled my subscription I was doning one prompt nothing happened and used all my 5 hour usage
So basically, for me, the $20 Claude Pro subscription has been the most disappointing out of the major LLMs. It’s not that the model itself is bad—in fact, it’s a very good model. The problem is the practical usage limits.
If you only casually chat from time to time, ask random questions, or maybe work on a document occasionally, it’s fine. But as soon as you start doing serious iterative work—like planning a visa process, working through health optimization with uploaded blood test results and photos, or even building a relatively small technical project—it runs out extremely quickly. In practice, you can hit the limits in under an hour, and then you are stuck waiting for hours before you can continue being productive.
Right now, I would say nothing really beats Google Gemini in terms of practical usability and value. Thanks to Gemini 3.1 Pro, it has become extremely capable. You can use Google AI Studio together with Stitch to design, code, and iterate conversationally, and even when the paid model limits are reached, the free Flash model is still incredibly strong and usable.
So for me, Claude ended up being a big disappointment—not because the intelligence is bad, but because the workflow breaks down the moment you try to use it seriously and continuously.
But the frustrating part is that I actually love Claude as a model. The way it responds, thinks through problems, rationalizes ideas, and structures conversations feels better to me than most other models. Personally, I would place it above Google Gemini or ChatGPT in terms of reasoning style and overall interaction quality.
I just wish the usage limits were more generous, and maybe they will improve over time. Because right now, the $20 subscription honestly feels almost unusable for anyone doing real project work. It feels more designed for quick support, occasional questions, or small random tasks—not for continuous iteration on even a relatively small project.
The problem is that you run out incredibly fast, and unlike Gemini, there is no meaningful fallback. With Gemini, even people I know using completely free accounts still get a surprisingly generous amount of access to both the thinking models and the Flash models, which are genuinely powerful. But with Claude, once you hit the limit, you are basically locked out completely, and that destroys the workflow.
That is what makes it so disappointing for me: the model quality itself is excellent, but the practical usability for serious day-to-day work just is not there yet.

i'm on the $100 a month plan downgraded from the $200 plan when they started messing and throttling my rate limits. Want to downgrade to $20 soon and switch to Codex for better backend tbh and clip in GLM/Deepseek etc.
